Easy Ink Watercolour Card Video Tutorial for Color Throwdown Challenge 448 #CTD448

Hi there!

I'm back today with another video for a card for the Color Throwdown Challenge 448; unfortunately I missed out on 447, so I'm excited to be back with another creation! Sit back and watch the video then read on for more details.

I had a lot of fun with these vibrant colours and really loved the finished effect. It really is reminiscent of sugar skull artwork, in my view, and makes a really bright thank you card.

--- Supplies Used ---
# 300 gsm super smooth white card (from Samuel Taylor's; this is the A3 version)
# Crafter's Companion Spectrum Noir Colorista stamp sets (Background 1 and Elements 2)
# Crafter's Companion Sara Signature Collection Just for Men stamp set (Rock Star - definitely not just for men!!)
# Distress Ink (I'm using the mini versions) in Peacock Feathers. Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet
# Memento Ink (I'm using the mini dew drops) in Pistachio and Teal Zeal
# VersaMark ink pad
# Magic Anti Static Pad from Woodware
# Heat tool from docrafts Papermania (mine is an older version)
# Round gold taklon brush (from this set from The Works)
# Acetate sheet (this pack is a bargain and can be used for hot foiling)
# Artist's masking tape (from Artist's Loft)
# Guillotine from Tonic Studios
# 12" scoring board from Martha Stewart (try this alternative)
# 1-2-3 punch board from We R Memory Keepers
# Black embossing powder from docrafts Papermania
# Whimsical Pastels paper pad from The Works
# Faber Castell PITT Liner in M (from a pack)

I found these colours really fun to work with, and was really inspired by the floral image for this challenge. To begin with, I cut a panel of white card to just larger than the background stamp, so I could tape it down, and then stamped and embossed the image. The images were then coloured in using Distress Ink and Memento Ink as watercolours. They're very easy to work with and the entire process was very therapeutic!

I simply tried to get a balance of colours on the card front and didn't worry about realistic shading for such a fantastical image. I cut a banner and made the card base all from the same A4 piece of card, then blended Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feather Distress Ink onto the banner, before stamping and embossing 'You're the Best' sentiment in black. I outlined this with the PITT pen to make it stand out from the background.

For the inside, I stamped this beautiful corner image in Teal Zeal ink. The envelope was made with the punch board, a piece of patterned card stock cut to 8" 3/8 square and punched at 3" 1/2. This is in mint green to tie in with the colour scheme.

Be sure to check out the Color Throwdown blog and have a go yourself; it's a lot of fun! I'll be back very soon with some more videos, so keep checking back. Don't forget to head over to YouTube and like the video if you enjoyed it; your support is greatly appreciated. You can also find me on Facebook and Twitter.

Thanks for reading all the way to the end!

Until next time,
Amy x
